FAQ

Q: I do not eat wheat, but I like to eat the regular fufu in the market. Can I use Friendship Whole Oat flour to make the regular fufu?

A: Oats are naturally free of gluten, which in found in wheat, barley, triticale, mustard, rye and/or soybeans. However, conventional oats may have traces of wheat, barley, triticale, mustard, rye and/or soybeans due to the unintentional introduction of these products during processing. Friendship Whole Oat flour is made from conventional oat that may have come in contact with traces of gluten-containing grains.

Q: Is Friendship Whole Oat flour gluten-free?

A: Friendship Whole Oat flour is made from conventional oat. Oat products may contain trace amounts of wheat, barley, triticale, mustard, rye and/or soybeans from the grain handling process as allowed by the U.S. Grain Handling Standards and the Canadian Grain Commission. The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA) labeling requirements do not apply to major food allergens that are unintentionally added to a food as the result of cross-contact. In the context of food allergens, “cross-contact” occurs when a residue or other trace amount of an allergenic food is unintentionally incorporated into another food that is not intended to contain that allergenic food. Cross-contact may result from customary methods of growing and harvesting crops, as well as from the use of shared storage, transportation, or production equipment. For more information see
